ireless communication links
have developed far and fast
in recent years to the point where a
television reporter can stream live
video straight back to base from a
standard mobile phone, or maybe
delay proceedings for a few minutes
to perform preliminary in-phone postproduction.
The following article looks at the
most recent product introductions
from the main players, including
many devices introduced at the NAB
convention in April, and at IBC in
September.
Amimon's Connex is a wireless link
combining long-range full-HD video
transmission capabilities and low
latency for use with aerial drones. It
uses a transmitter operating within the
5 GHz licence-exempt spectrum. The
Connex has 2 x 5 inputs and outputs
and automatic channel selection for

up to 1 kilometre to the ground unit
and is capable of displaying telemetry
information as well as sending control
commands via an S-Bus protocol to

GPS data interface to integrate into
tracking systems. The transmitter
provides 10 watts of output power in

combination with the DLC50 control
panel, the HC4 can be mounted within
an avionics bay.
