Let students know that a chain of events can be used as a tool for simple action planning. Define an action plan as a step-by-step outline of all the positive choices you need to make in order to meet your goals. Ask a volunteer to share one academic goal they have set. then, model on the board or on an overhead how you might create a chain of events to plan how you could reach that goal. Ask students to sketch out a draft of their academic success chain of events in their handout. Students can then create a final version in whatever format you desire.
