LAUNCH GRADE 9: CLEAN SLATE Finally, let students know that you are going to give them an example of each kind of learner by acting it out. Students should write what you do in the box labeled " Example. " Then, do the following: * hold a hand up to your ear and mime listening as an example for Auditory learner * hold two hands up to your eyes and mime looking through binoculars as an example for Visual learners * Reach out and touch as many things with your hands as you can for an example for Tactile/kinesthetic learners DIFFERENTIATION SUGGESTION You may consider having students complete the Independent Practice for homework or during another class period if time is short or computer access is limited. Let students know that watching someone act something out is a great way for Visual learners to learn, but actually acting something out yourself is a great way for Tactile/kinesthetic learners to learn. Act out each item again, but this time have students stand up and do what you do along with you. Based on all of the previous (the quiz results and the definitions given), take a quick poll. how many students in your class think they are Auditory learners? how many think they are Visual? Tactile/kinesthetic? Ask students to record their guess in the space provided at the top of the student handout, then move on to the Independent Practice. independent practice: learning styles inventory (10-30 minutes) oBjectiVe: STUdEnTS WILL TAkE A QUIZ To IdEnTIFY ThEIR LEARnInG STYLE.
