Power Diodes
Nexperia (Nijmegen, The Netherlands) has announced the latest additions to its rapidly expanding
portfolio of Clip-bonded FlatPower (CFP) packaged diodes. The latest additions include 32 planar
Schottky diodes and eight hyperfast recovery rectifiers housed in the CFP15B package. They are available
as standard and Q-types that meet AEC-Q101 automotive qualification standards. The operating range
for these new planar Schottky diodes is between 30-100 V and 3-15 A. Versions optimized for low forward
voltage (VF) (including the PMEG100V080ELPE/-Q) deliver low conduction losses and high efficiency
for cost-efficient DC-DC converters and in reverse polarity protection applications. These diodes are also available in low leakage
variants with ultra-low reverse current and best-in-class operating temperature capability, providing exceptional robustness against thermal
runaway. The eight 200 V single-type recovery rectifier devices (PNE200xxEPE/-Q series) have an average forward current (IF) between 4-10
A and complement existing dual type recovery rectifiers also available. Using the smaller, high-power density CFP15B instead of DPAK or
SMB/C packages can save up to 60 percent of board space, while maintaining the same level of electrical performance.

Battery Management System
Sensata Technologies (Swindon, U.K.) has unveiled the Lithium Balance n3-BMS for high voltage applications.
The Lithium Balance n3-BMS is ideal for applications with power up to 1000 volts/2000 amps,
especially for battery makers and manufacturers of electric trucks, buses, and other heavy commercial
vehicles. The unique layered software structure of the n3-BMS provides customers with the option to customize
the battery management system with their own code and algorithms without impacting the ASIL C certification.
The BMS software architecture consists of a " Base Software Layer " (BSW) and an " External Software Layer "
(ESW) which are connected by an open API link layer. Since all the safety-critical functionalities of the BMS are in the BSW
layer of the software, developers are free to implement their own software code and algorithms in the ESW without any risk to the
ISO 26262 certification of the system. The n-BMS' MCU is fully compatible with the n3-BMS' CMUs, so it is easy to upgrade from n-BMS to
n3-BMS with the replacement of a single PCB board in a battery system of any size.

High Current SMD Fuse
SCHURTER (Santa Rosa, CA) has launched its newest addition
to the SCHURTER Fuse portfolio: The fast-acting UHP High
Current SMD Fuse, designed to safely interrupt high-energy overcurrent
in battery systems. Specially designed for Safety Extra
Low Voltage (SELV) applications, the UHP meets the high-breaking
capacity requirements and fast trip time of an overcurrent
situation by galvanically separating these immense energies. The
UHP fuse disconnects the circuit at twice the rated current within a maximum of 15 seconds.
The rated breaking capacity of the UHP is up to 3000 A, depending on the configuration. It
features a robust design with a small footprint, which allows for reflow solder process compatibility
and space savings on the PCB. Operating temperature range is -55 °C to 125 °C. It
is available in six current ratings from 50-100 A at 80 VDC or 63 VDC, depending on the
required breaking capacity of 3000 A or 2000 A.

Gelled Tantalum Capacitors
Exxelia (Paris, France) has expanded its line of MIL-PRF-39006/22
and MIL-PRF-39006/25 tantalum capacitors. It now offers the reliability
level R, in addition to level M and P for the specifications
MIL-PRF-39006/22 and MIL-PRF-39006/25, equivalent to CLR79
and CLR81 series. Available in all package sizes (T1 to T4), these
fully sealed products cover voltages from 6V to 125V, deliver capacitance
values ranging from 1.7 μF to 1200 μF, and are designed
to operate at temperatures ranging from -55 °C to +125 °C and withstand the harshest
environmental conditions. Performance highlights over solid tantalum capacitors include
higher energy density, higher ripple currents, lower ESR, and lower DC leakage current. The
capacitors can be easily integrated into power supplies and converters or filtering units
for the aerospace and defense industries.
