New Holland extends ag lineup with CH7.70 combine, 'multitasker' tractor
To reinforce its position as a " full-liner, " New Holland
Agriculture's focus for 2021 is to continue developing and
launching new ranges, models and innovations to compete in
every agricultural segment. Brand president Carlo Lambro
kicked off that initiative during a recent virtual event, introducing several new products that will reach the market in 2021.
Chief among them are the CH7.70 combine, which debuts a
new Crossover Harvesting concept that pairs Twin Rotor separation technology with the brand's conventional threshing
system, and the new T6.160 Dynamic Command tractor, reportedly the only compact 6-cylinder tractor available with
rated power below 140 hp (104 kW).
A major focus of New Holland's brand strategy is achieving
" harvesting supremacy, " said Sean Lennon, VP Europe. " Our
target is to make New Holland the European leader in the combine segment. This means winning over new customers and
bringing our market share well above our current position, " he
said. The company has grouped a set of coordinated initiatives
under a new " combine attack plan, " initially targeting France,
Germany and the U.K. to increase its combine footprint.
" The new Crossover combine creates a new segment in
New Holland's wide offering, between mid-range conventional and flagship rotary models, further extending the
choice of solutions for our customers, capable of meeting the
specific needs of all types of farming operations, " said Lionel
Gleyroux, product marketing manager, Combines and
Headers Europe. The Crossover Harvesting technology delivers segment-leading throughput, he added.

New Holland is counting on its new CH7.70, which Lambro called
" a leap forward in technology and productivity, " to help move the
needle on its market share. Available in the first half of this year,
the combine's new Crossover Harvesting technology is key to
productivity gains, delivering up to 25% more throughput than a
conventional combine in its class, along with a 35% decrease in

The CH7.70 pairs Twin Rotor separation technology with a large-diameter
threshing drum from conventional combines to create a new Crossover
Harvesting system.

broken grain, according to Lars Skjoldager Sørensen, product
management director, Combines and Headers Global. An unloading speed of 100 L/sec allows the 9,300-L tank to be emptied in
about a minute and a half, he said.
The two-drum threshing system features a 600-mm diameter reinforced drum - claimed to be the largest in the segment. The drum combined with the sectional concave enables
adaptation to different crops in less than 20 minutes. Drum
speed is controlled from the cab by a new heavy-duty hydraulic drum variator, allowing the operator to adjust speed to
match the crop and field conditions.
The threshing system features New Holland's proven OptiThresh technology, which adapts to crop conditions and maturity by repositioning the rear part of the concave; no tools
are required. When the hinged top section is moved away
from the drum, the rubbing action is gentler, improving straw
quality, Sørensen explained.
The specially designed 3.45-meter-long, 21-inch Twin Rotor
system is said to provide the segment's largest separation area,
at about 2.9 m2 (31 ft2). The CH7.70 can be equipped with a
range of Varifeed headers of up to 9.15 meters, including a new
8.53-meter version specifically developed for this range. The
front face of the feeder housing can be mechanically adjusted
to ensure alignment with the header, optimizing the angle to
deliver smooth, laminar crop flow for increased throughput.
The CH7.70 features a Triple-Clean cascaded cleaning system that boosts cleaning capacity by up to 15% with the addition of an extra cascade in the center of the grain pan. The
double flight cross auger, which transfers grain to the elevator
faster, can further increase throughput. Performance on
slopes is enhanced by the SmartSieve system, which automatically compensates for side slopes up to 25%. The system
