TYRE MODELING

Mathworks

In the Student Community, a student pursuing a master's degree at
Technical University Ilmenau, Germany, has a question about active
wheel corner systems. The student seeks help using Mathwork's
Simulink Matlab Model. He believes it provides the best modeling, but is

ELECTRIC VEHICLE BRAKE SYSTEMS

Gerald " Jerry " Dreisewerd writes: " I believe that it is possible for
passenger car or light truck battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and hybrid
vehicles to meet FMVSS 135 without any brakes other than one or more
parking brakes. Discussion? " Several respondents opined that it is
possible, and even beneficial in that use of the electric motor for
braking could eliminate the need for conventional brakes. However,
others noted, it might be best to use a redundant system because of the
unreliability of the " million lines of code " that would be needed for the
engine controller to function as a brake. - Add your voice here!

What is a chat? It's a two-day session with an SAE subject matter expert on a variety of
technical topics, soft skill development, leadership, and workforce development. Add your
voice to this dialogue-ask questions, provide answers and, ultimately, gain insights from

held on March 30-31. The topic was " Women in the Aerospace Industry. " Among the
scheduled hosts/experts were Rhonda Walthall and Tammy Reeve. Walthal co-authored a
