DOSSIER: Pascal Joly of Airbus Americas, Inc. MEMbEr NEWS of SAE, including the TSB (Technical Standard Board) the ENC (Executive Nominating Committee), and the Finance Committee. As Chair of the TSB, I led its transition to a Committee of the Board, which gave me the insights to be considered for and to get selected as SAE Aerospace Sector Vice President. I held that position from 2018 to 2020. Serving on the Board of Directors has certainly been the most valued experience, but chairing the ASC (Award and Sponsorship Committee) has also been a way to appreciate the breadth of SAE's impact on the automotive and aerospace community. Has any particular SAE Member been especially helpful or inspirational to you? Former SAEI Director Scott Klavon introduced me to Buzz Aldrin at the occasion of an AIAA gala at the Reagan Convention Center in DC. This very short moment (you can imagine that many others were in the line) was very emotional, as I could connect his voice to what I lived a long time ago in July 1969 in UPDATE As President of the European Chapter of SFTE (Society of Flight Test Engineers), Joly presided at the opening ceremony of the 2006 SFTE Symposium in Amsterdam.
