New Tools & Technologies
Single-enclosure GNSS +INSS
Hexagon/NovAtel (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) recently announced
its PwrPak7-E1 now is supported on the NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion
autonomous vehicle (AV) development platform. DRIVE Hyperion
is a fully operational, production-validated and open AV platform
that reduces the amount of time and cost required to outfit vehicles
with the technology required for AI features and automated driving. The company
said the PwrPak7-E1 delivers world-class SPAN (GNSS +INS) technology in an integrated,
single-enclosure solution. Powered by NovAtel OEM7 GNSS engine, the PwrPak7-E1 also
has enhanced connection options, including serial, USB, CAN and Ethernet, making it an
ideal solution for ground truth and high-precision positioning used in development of
autonomous vehicles. In conjunction with Novatel's Waypoint Inertial Explorer post-processing
software, the PwrPak7-E1 provides ground truth, the critical position reference
for autonomous driving software behavior that can be validated.

ADAS-calibration scan tool
For the 2020 model year, 93% of light vehicles came
equipped with at least one ADAS component.
ADASLink from Hunter Engineering (Bridgeton, MO)
is a premium, full-diagnostic scan tool that includes
ADAS calibration and secure FCA gateway capabilities
in a complete solution custom that integrates with Hunter's WinAlign software,
offering service technicians quick access to specific calibration procedures for more
than 25 million vehicles. With comparatively few service providers prepared to perform
the intricate ADAS calibrations increasingly required by vehicle OEMS, the
new ADASLink scan tool closes the gap with comprehensive ease and precision, the
company said. Dynamic calibrations are supported by ADASLink; for static, in-bay
calibrations, ADASLink combines with the Bosch DAS3000, using built-in cameras
and rear wheel-mounted targets to position the fixture in front of the vehicle.

Low-voltage servo drive
STXI Motion (Petach Tikva, Israel) introduces the servSD ready-toconnect
low-voltage servo drive, aimed at applications such as automated
guided vehicles/autonomous mobile robots, electronics assembly,
and medical equipment. The servo drive offers high power
density in a small footprint (106 mm wide, 73.6 mm deep, 40 mm
high). The ready-to-connect drive doesn't require pin soldering or
cable adaptors, supports common motor feedback types and uses
real-time data exchange for higher levels of axis synchronization and
safer modes of operation. The SD01-030 model offers a 24 VDC input bus, 24 VDC
input logic, continuous current of 30 Arms and peak current of 100 Arms, while the
SD01-025 model features a 48 VDC input bus, 24 VDC input logic, continuous current
of 25 Arms and peak current of 80 Arms.

Full-interior sensor
Smart Eye (Gothenberg, Sweden)
and OmniVision Technologies (Santa
Clara, CA) announce an end-to-end interior
sensing solution that is a combination
of two industry-leading technologies
enabling " complete in-cabin monitoring
with innovative features that bring the
next generation of automobiles to a
higher level of autonomy. " The full interior
sensing solution for automotive OEMs
is claimed to enable complete driver and
cabin monitoring with videoconferencing
applications from a single RGB-IR sensor.
The companies said the system is
the first integrated video processing
chain, combining features based on the
OmniVision OV2312 RGB-IR sensor, supporting
exceptional day and night performance.
Smart Eye's AI-based eye, mouth
and head tracking technology provides
EuroNCAP performance linked
with full cabin monitoring and driver
monitoring, featuring distraction, drowsiness
and incapacitated driver detection,
combined with driver identification and
spoof-proof processing.
