Package diodes
ROHM Semiconductor (Kyoto, Japan) announced the
addition of 14 new models to their PMDE package diodes,
which reportedly provide superior heat-dissipation
performance by expanding the backside electrode
and optimizing the heat dissipation path. According to
the company, this achieves the same electrical characteristics
as those of conventional packages in a smaller
size. Revisions to the backside electrode and heat dissipation path has allowed
ROHM to achieve the same electrical characteristics in a smaller package, contributing
to board miniaturization by reducing mounting area by approximately 42%.
Mechanical strength is around 1.4 times higher than that of the SOD-123FL, reducing
the risk of solder cracking when stress is applied to the board.

Proximity beacon
Omni Pro Electronics (Addison, Texas) announced the EM
Microelectronics release of its new EMBC22 proximity beacon
module with accelerometer for tracking moveable objects.
EMBC22 is a customizable Bluetooth V4.2 low energy proximity
beacon. It is mounted in a coin-shaped housing and is powered
by the EM9304. Omni states that the new product features
include longer life from a CR2032 battery, a longer range
(up to 200 m/656 ft LOS), over-the-air configurability and an optional connector for
sensors or power source. The EMBC22 also is compatible with all major beacon formats
including iBeacon, Eddystone, AltBeacon and proprietary systems such as
Quuppa Intelligent Locating System. The EMBC22 can be stored in Warehouse Mode
without significantly degrading the battery and comes in a waterproof housing.

Common-mode filters
TDK Corporation (Tokyo, Japan) has developed the
KCZ1210DH series common-mode filters for automotive
applications. This series provides a noise control
function for high-speed differential transmission signal
lines for automobiles and is available in 1210 case
size. The company states that mass-production began
in February 2022. The KCZ1210DH series supports high-speed signals with over
10 Gbps transmission rates. Additionally, it contributes to noise control in the GHz
band generated due to increased speed. By supporting an operating temperature
range from -55 C (-67 F) to 125 C (257 F) and adopting a conductive resin-based
electrode, product cracks from thermal shock are limited while also offering durability
against mechanical stresses such as substrate strains.

Rightware (Helsinki, Finland) released
Kanzi One, an HMI toolchain designed
to provide OEMs and Tier 1s with rendering
capabilities, a 3D graphics engine,
and Android integration for nextgeneration
infotainment systems.
Rightware states that Kanzi One lets
manufacturers deliver future-looking
user experiences for advanced HMIs in
less than half the time with smaller
teams and with significantly less coding
compared with traditional methods.
Initially, five feature packs are included:
Kanzi Connect, Maps, Particles,
Autostereoscopy, and VR. The VR feature
enables users to validate designs
in an early phase by placing live UIs
inside a virtual car interior, allowing
them to interact with the screens with
or without a virtual-reality headset.
