IN ALL HONESTY, ENGINEERING IS ONE OF THE MOST
EXCITING and ever-changing profession we have in our world
today. The most intriguing part of this profession is how widely
people follow engineering, especially when it comes to the
latest released inventions in automobiles, smartphones,
computers, etc. Just imagine how happy, curious, and
impatient we become sometimes when we are waiting for the
updated version of our smart devices for the year. What
profession can be so fascinating as engineering? With my
degree in mechanical engineering, the possibilities for my
future are very exciting. However, I believe that before a career
is considered, one must examine his/her motivations.
My interest in a career in mechanical engineering is rooted
in my early childhood experience in Ghana. Having spent much
of my childhood in a farming community there, I became
interested in the mechanization of agriculture. I remember
when I was in elementary school, I would accompany my
grandmother to the farm and watch how the local farmers use
traditional ways to prepare and plow the soil and then plant
crops. My inspiration stems from observing with keen interest
