SPOTLIGHT: THERMAL MANAGEMENT
RTD scanner indicator
Schaevitz Industries (Bloomfield Hills, Michigan) announced
the PMD-MXT series of RTD scanner indicators. This microprocessor-based
temperature scanner provides continuous
monitoring of up to 32 channels of RTD sensors. It features an
LED display with rows of LED annunciators that warn of specific
channel alarm conditions. The scanner has two user-selectable
HI/LO, HI/HI, or LO/LO alarm set points, configured
through the front panel pushbuttons. During an alarm condition
a front panel LED annunciator is enabled and an internal
2 Amp relay contact output is engaged. The scanner's display
will also auto cycle through all input channels at a user determined
rate of 0.5 to 10 seconds per channel.

including conversion,

and distribution
for commercial vehicles and off-highway applications. Eaton
states that its lightweight, low-voltage technologies are designed
to withstand harsh environments and that the customizable
portfolio can be integrated into existing vehicle
architectures based on customer demands. The company
also states that its DC-to-DC power conversion and inverter
solutions can be used to reduce or increase voltage as needed
so that proper current levels are maintained for various
electrical components.

Temperature scanner
Axiomatic
(Mississauga,
Ontario) announced
the
AX180800
temperature
scanner. The
company
states that
the scanner
can monitor
up to 20
thermocouples
and 2
RTDs to provide temperature information to the engine control
system over SAE J1939 CAN bus. The channels are independently
configurable as Type J, K, B, E, N, R, S or T thermocouples.
All 20 channels of temperature data are automatically
sent over the CAN bus when power is applied.
There are four universal signal command inputs and six
Form C relay outputs. All inputs are fully isolated from the
CAN lines and from the power supply and the two CAN
channels are fully isolated from one another in the hardware,
which allows for different CAN networks to be connected.

Gate drivers
Allegro
MicroSystems
(Manchester, New
Hampshire) announced
two new
full-bridge gate
drivers for automotive
and industrial
applications. Available with direct control (A89505) and
pulse-width modulation (A89506) options, both devices can
up-integrate features to make system design easier, replacing
mechanical relays with solid-state drivers to improve
performance and reliability. Built-in capabilities include flexible
interface logic, EMI mitigation with programmable gate
drive, motor current feedback and multiple diagnostic features.
The company claims a 36% smaller package than
comparable 5x5 mm devices. Allegro states that the A89505
and A89506 are ideal for vehicle applications such as window
and door actuators, EV charger locks, electronic parking
brakes and folding mirrors.
