Cutting-edge technology was
present before I entered the
show. I hopped off the shuttle
and was deposited at the
entrance of what looked like a
typical subway or metro aboveground
station with an escalator,
stairs, and elevator to take
event-goers below to what I
thought would be a moving
walkway below ground to walk
under the busy parking lot and
over to one of the massive
exhibit buildings. But the scene
was much different.

Depending on the source, CES will list anywhere
from four or five to 25+ possible categories, making it
difficult to focus, especially if the attendee is a bit of a
tech and gear head (yes, I confess, that would include
me). Major long-time CES categories include smart
home, digital tech, health & wellness, food tech,
gaming, robotics, space tech, sustainability, ecoUPDATE

tunnels at airports), we
descended into what resembled
a parking garage. I was greeted
by one of several busy smiling
people who inquired about the
size of my traveling party and
then grabbed my arm and led
me to a nearly silent white Tesla.
I then heard what sounded like a
quiet version of a Doppler effect
and saw the opening of two
large holes in the wall where the
sound emanated, and the
vehicles entered. Right in front of
