The video here looks at The Boring Company's Las Vegas Convention Center Loop in its development phase.
me, I didn't realize, was one of
the early sites of the Boring
Company, which is another
massive Elon Musk enterprise.
The " LVCC Loop " debuted in
2021 and is the first stage in a
much larger project to transport
people and goods throughout
Las Vegas via fully automated
vehicles operating on dedicated
one-way lanes, many of them
underground.
You have to give Elon credit;
This is a perfect place to
demonstrate technology, not just
on a one-dimensional large
screen showing what it would be
like to zip along - you get to

experience it. While the trip was not as fast as Elon
predicts it can go in the near future (target time of <2
minutes), the Tesla went through the tunnel in closer
to 4 minutes. But I'll take the 4 minutes, as it saved
yet more endless convention complex walking, which
is great for my steps count but gets tiring after long
days in business attire.
I mention the LVCC Loop because it was a perfect
entrè into the rest of the show. I'd like to highlight the
words " vehicle intelligence and transportation. " In the
not-so-distant past, the category was called
" automotive technology " -and these words still
appear in various CES info, depending on where you
search. " Vehicle intelligence and transportation " is a
meaningful change not just in terminology, but in
what it connotes: The world is undergoing significant
evolution in how transportation is viewed and where
the pockets of value and opportunity lie.
