Mentor spotlight: Michele Kaiser
As Business Development Manager at John
Deere, Michele Kaiser is one
of the more accomplished
volunteers in SAE's Mentor
Program.
" It's always fun to see a
mentee have success, or to
hear, " I wouldn't have done
that if you hadn't pushed me and I'm so
glad that you did,' " she said. " It's great to
see people explore and find success outside
of their comfort zones. The same has been
true for me with my mentors. They push me
to keep growing and, more importantly,

they hold up a mirror for me to see myself...
both the things I need to work on and the
things that are successes. Sometimes the
good things are harder for us to see and I've
been so thankful for my mentors who have
helped me in that way. "
Kaiser adds that she has had a rich and
fulfilling experience with SAE, " forming great
relationships, learning from multiple
contributors, speaking, and organizing events.
I've also had great professional experiences,
complete with the obligatory mistakes along
the way and some wonderful mentors who
have been good thought partners throughout
my career. Mentoring, for me, is a way to pay
it forward and help others to work though
challenges while having their own fulfilling
and meaningful journeys, in both their careers
and their SAE experiences. "
In addition to mentoring, Kaiser serves
SAE in a volunteer capacity by serving the
SAE Commercial Vehicle (COMVEC)
Executive Council, where she helps plan the
annual congress. " That is such a fun
experience to work with a great team of staff
and volunteers to plan the event each year, "
she said. Kaiser also has moderated and
participated on COMVEC panels covering a
wide variety of topics.
" I have also been a paper reviewer, an
author, and a speaker at the SAE World
Congress in Detroit, " she added. " There's
another committee I am planning to join this
coming year...the possibilities are endless
with SAE, and I'm having a lot of fun
participating! " n
