Oscilloscopes
Renesas Electronics Corporation (Tokyo, Japan) and
Fixstars Corporation (Tokyo, Japan) announced the joint
development of a suite of tools that allows optimization
and fast simulation of software for autonomous driving
systems and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).
The system is specifically designed for the R-Car systemon-chip
(SoC) devices from Renesas. The company claims
that these tools make it possible to rapidly develop network
models with highly accurate object recognition from
the initial stage of software development that take advantage
of the performance of the R-Car. Renesas claims this
reduces post-development rework and thereby helps
shorten development cycles.

3D sensing
Eyeris Monocular Technologies
(Mountain View, California) introduced
its latest monocular 3D
sensing AI software solution.
Eyeris states that its proprietary
technology accurately regresses
depth information with 3D output
from 2D image sensors for all incabin
features. The system collects naturalistic in-cabin 3D
data to train compute-efficient depth inference models that
run on AI-enabled processors. The data generated can be
used to map the interior of a vehicle and accurately determine
in three dimensions the location of occupants' face,
body and hands as well as other objects in the cabin. The
company claims that their system enables new depth-dependent
spatial features and use cases such as 3D in-cabin scene
reconstruction, while maintaining the same low-computation
and power requirements with efficient inference on automotive-grade
processors.

AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERING
RIGOL Technologies (Suzhou China) introduced its HDO
Series high-definition oscilloscopes. The HDO series features
true 12-bit resolution and are available in 70MHz to
800MHz bandwidths with 2 or 4 channels. They are powered
by the new UltraVision III platform with a custom
ASIC chipset. According to RIGOL, this dramatically lower
front-end noise and enables users to analyze smaller signal
artifacts with greater speed and accuracy. The
HDO4000 oscilloscopes are available in 200-800MHz, 4
channels, 4GSa/sec sampling, 100 μV/division range, and
250 MPts of memory standard (500 MPts optional). While
the HDO1000 scopes offer 70-200MHz bandwidth, 2 or 4
channels, 1GSa/sec sampling, 500 μV/division range, and
50 MPts of memory standard (100 MPts optional).

Inductive resolver ICs
Melexis (Tessenderlo, Belgium) expanded
its range of automotive inductive
resolvers for e-motor applications
such as power steering, traction
motor and brake boosters. The
MLX90517 complements the
MLX90510 by providing raw signals
to enable off-chip compensation in
the ECU. The MLX90517 offers accuracy
of better than ±0.36° at up to 660,000 e-rpm without
the need for any IC programming. The MLX90517 also works
in combination with a set of PCB-based coils and can be
adapted in line with the number of pole-pairs of the motor.
Support for both on-axis (end-of-shaft) and off-axis (side-ofshaft
or through-shaft) sensing provides engineers with options
to implement coils for reliable and accurate sensing
within acute mechanical constraints. The 3-phase based coil
design enhances linearity via harmonic filtering that would
not be possible in 2-coil systems.
