ZF Group (Friedrichshafen, Germany)
announced that its cubiX software will
be used in the Lotus Eletre electric
SUV. The software controls all chassis
functions such as brakes, front and
rear axle steering and active roll stabilizers
as well as the electric drive system.
ZF states that the cubiX software
optimizes driving behavior, vehicle dynamics and efficiency, and
forms the basis for progressive driver-assistance systems. The
system can receive over-the-air updates that allow the software
to remain up to date throughout the vehicle's life, and additional
functions can be added after the vehicle has been delivered. ZF
claims that this system gives manufacturers the flexibility to implement
different model series with one and the same control
platform without additional integration effort.

Electrolytic capacitors
TDK Corporation (Livonia, Michigan) announced
its new EPCOS B43652* series of snap-in aluminum
electrolytic capacitors. The series reportedly
features compact dimensions of 35 mm x 55 mm
or less (1.3 x 2.1 inches) and a high ripple currentcarrying
capacity of up to 11.28 A at 100 Hz. This
high ripple current rating was reportedly made
possible by a new design with a reinforced bucket
bottom for improved active cooling. TDK states that this increased
the current capability by 85%. The capacitors are designed
for a maximum rated voltage of 450 V DC and cover a
capacitance range from 270 μF to 820 μF. The capacitance values
from 270 μF to 560 μF are offered in different dimensions,
which increases design flexibility.

Voltage regulators
Diodes Incorporated (Plano,
Texas) introduced the AP7387Q
low-dropout (LDO) linear voltage
regulator. The unit delivers a maximum
output current of 150mA
with a wide input voltage of 5V to
60V, and a dropout voltage of
700mV (typical) at a 100mA output current. The unit is suitable
for use in automotive audio, navigation, taillights, transmission
control units and battery management systems. The
AP7387Q's quiescent current is just 2μA, which Diodes Inc.
says is essential in systems that are permanently connected
to a battery, helping to extend runtime. The unit also features
a high-power supply rejection ratio (PSRR) of 70dB at 1kHz
and is optimized for noise-sensitive functions.
