NEW TEAMS MAKE THEIR MARK
IN SECOND ITERATION OF
AUTODRIVE CHALLENGE
CALLED " THE 12TH UNMANNED, " the autonomous system
developed by a team from the Texas A&M University finished
1st in Year 2 of AutoDrive Challenge II, powered by strong
performances in the on-track dynamic events. The competition
took place June 5-11 in Ann Arbor, Mich., at the public-private
partnership called Mcity that brings together industry,
government, and University of Michigan researchers across
campus to transform mobility for the benefit of society.
Along with 1st place overall, The 12th Unmanned scored 1st
place in the Highway Challenge and the Intersection Challenge.
This year was the first in which the University of Toronto did
not place 1st overall in an AutoDrive Challenge competition
since the first one in 2018. Which is not to say it didn't do well.
The team took 2nd place overall, earning 1st place in four
scoring categories - more than any other team.
The team from Penn State finished 3rd overall, picking up
three top finishes along the way. The only other team to score a
first was the one from the University of Wisconsin.
Michigan Tech had a strong showing, its 2nd place in the
Highway Challenge lifting it to 3rd in combined dynamic
challenges. It also had two 2nd-place finishes in static
challenges.
