BRIEFS
SPOTLIGHT: POWER GENERATION/GENSETS
Marine generators
Cummins
(Columbus, Indiana)
announced the
Onan C-Power
QSB7E generator
for maritime applications
such as
small passenger
ferries, fishing boats
and offshore support
vessels. The
QSB7E is available as an open or enclosed unit in both 50and
60-Hz models with an output of up to 195 kWe. The
generator features 10 power nodes and is available in unclassed,
class-ready and full-class variations. Its mounting
base has multiple outlets for fuel and battery cables, and
the exhaust system can be configured in a forward or rearfacing
orientation for ease of installation. Additionally, the
QSB7E can be supplied with a front-mounted power takeoff
that can be used to power various auxiliary systems such
as hydraulic pumps.

Battery thermal management
With both cooling
and heating
circuits, the
EVantage L-CON
battery thermal
management
system (BTMS) from Modine (Racine,
Wisconsin) reportedly optimizes the
temperature range for an entire bank
of batteries with a single unit in rugged
environments. Suitable for commercial
and industrial EVs such as Class 3-8
vehicles and off-highway and forestry
equipment, the system features IP67
ingress protection, corrosion-resistant
materials, fully sealed wiring harness
and rigorous validation testing. The
L-CON (liquid-cooled condenser)
BTMS comes with integrated master
controller that automatically selects
the mode of operation to meet the
batteries' heating and cooling needs,
using the coolant temperature sensor
to adjust the flow.

Open genset power units
Isuzu (Plymouth,
Michigan) released
the diesel REDTech
6H-Series open
genset for construction,
industrial, medical,
rental and agricultural
industries.
The power units are
available in three
sizes and are all 90%
pre-validated, helping
to save time, money and resources, Isuzu claims. The
4J-Series' three-liter I4 diesel engine is rated at 71 kW (95
hp) at 1800 rpm. The 4H-Series features a 5.2-liter four-cylinder
diesel and offers an output of 127.4 kW (171 hp) at
1800 rpm. The new 6H-Series 7.8-liter six-cylinder is the
most powerful, with a rating of 194 kW (260 hp) at 1800
rpm. All units are Tier 4 Final certified and branded under
the Isuzu REDTech line. The units are engineered for use
with several different generator manufacturers' products.

Electrohydrostatic pump system
Moog (East
Aurora, New
York) introduced
its
electrohydrostatic
pump
system
(EPS), which consists of an electrohydrostatic
pump unit (EPU) and a
standardized manifold with hydraulic
accumulator. It is offered as a complete
system without an actuator and can be
integrated into machine concepts via
retrofit or new developments. Moog
offers different motor-pump units and
power classes, as well as different cooling
concepts and additional features
such as functional safety. The EPS reportedly
is highly adaptable to allow
the use of existing customer components
such as hydraulic cylinders.
Standardized connections and components
also facilitate ease of integration,
scaling and maintenance.

Combination light
HELLA
(Lippstadt,
Germany) unveiled
the C240
LED combination
headlamp for
heavy-duty applications.
The
C240 integrates all important light
functions such as low beam, high
beam, position light, daytime running
light, hazard warning and front turn
signals into a single unit. Additionally,
the housing and lens are made of impact-resistant
plastic, and the unit is
vibration-resistant, dustproof and waterproof
making it suitable for challenging
conditions. The C240 comes
with a DEUTSCH DT connector and an
ISO pulse indicator failure check to
ensure the combination headlamp
meets all functional safety requirements.
Both ECE and SAE versions of
the C240 are available.
