the automotive industry. During these sessions,
experts presented and discussed various topics,
including analyzing transport-induced emissions on
city roads, the impact of different lifec inventory
modeling scenarios on the lifecycle analysis results,
and quantifying the sensitive parameters of newenergy
vehicles. They also explored how technology
developed during the 1970s energy crisis can address
today's energy predicament, the lifecycle climate
performance of mobile air-conditioning (MAC)
systems in battery electric vehicles, and the
electrification of the heavy-duty commercial vehicle
market. These sessions showcased that sustainable
development is a vital component of the automotive
industry, reducing the industry's environmental
impact while supporting social and economic
development.
One example of the environmental impact of the
automotive industry can be seen in Melbourne, where
vehicle emissions are the primary source of city
pollution. A study used a probabilistic emission
inventory approach to calculate emissions for
different Euro standards and vehicle categories,
analyzing deterministic and stochastic modeling
approaches. The study also evaluated future
scenarios, such as the growth in vehicle registration
by 2030 and the replacement of Euro 3 vehicles with
Euro 5, which could significantly reduce CO₂
emissions. The paper provides valuable information
for mitigating the adverse effects of pollution in
metropolitan areas.
Another study, in China, found that the low
utilization rate of electric vehicle sharing (EVS) is
caused by poor user experience and a lack of wordof-mouth
promotion. The study found that social

with a number of opinion leaders
and their fans playing an
important role. The paper
provides insights into improving
EVS's utilization rate and user
experience in China.
The technical sessions also
discussed the development of a
magneto-rheological (MR)
braking system for electric
vehicles. MR fluid has unique
properties that make it useful for
different applications, but
simulations are necessary to
evaluate its characteristics due
to the complexity of its behavior.
The paper proposes a strategy to
verify the feasibility of the MR
system quickly through design,
steady-state analyses, and
material and geometrical
optimization, before developing
a costly prototype. In India, a
new driving cycle designed
explicitly for motorcycles was
created to evaluate gasoline
blends' fuel economy and
emissions. The results showed
that the new process is more
severe than the traditional cycle,
with lower fuel economy and
higher emissions. The study also
highlighted the impact of traffic
and road infrastructure on
vehicle emissions and
