Ai and the digital twin

The rise of Ai
A prime driver of the adoption of AI in any
industry is to improve efficiency and reduce
costs.
News and media companies are adopting
AI assistance to help boost subscriptions
and make decisions about what stories to
promote. These organizations
have hired data science
experts to apply AI for
tracking customer habits and
enabling more efficient
marketing efforts. AI also is used as a time
saving tool by content authors to facilitate
writing stories.
The agriculture industry has always been
on the leading edge of technological
development to make farming more
profitable. Intelligent automated vehicles
reduce labor costs and increase product
growing efficiency. Cloud-based AI can
actively monitor weather patterns and
provide cost saving recommendations for
optimizing fertilizer and irrigation
applications.
In the mobility industry, AI and machine
learning algorithms can be used to process
data produced within a vehicle being driven
on a road to predict needed maintenance.

Also, vehicle manufacturing facilities can
use AI predictive maintenance to increase
the production " uptime " as well as
requiring fewer technicians to support the
operation. AI is being used to design
products much more quickly, and test them
virtually using a digital twin. These
advancements will lower development
costs while requiring fewer (hard-to-find)
engineers.
Digital Twins
A digital twin is a virtual representation of a
real device. The " twin " operates with the
same systems (software, hardware, sensors,
actuators) as the real physical object
functions. The concept and model of the
digital twin was publicly introduced in 2002
by Michael Grieves of the University of
Michigan at a Society of Manufacturing
Engineers conference in Troy, Mich. By
modeling the vehicle virtually, engineers
use digital twins to test system operation
and verify functional changes before
deployment. A vehicle digital twin would
also provide engineers with a platform to
rapidly collect operational data which in
turn can reduce cost, development time,
and risk.
