TEXTBOOK STIPEND OPPORTUNITY

FIRST INTRODUCED IN 2021, the student textbook stipend
was a way for the SAE International membership team to
give back to its student members by assisting with the
financial burden of college.
Over the last three years, the membership team has been
able to provide additional funding in the form of a textbook
stipend to 14 students. The current stipend provides a $600
USD payment to selected students.
The current application window closes on April 15, so be
sure to apply soon! Read on to learn more about the student
textbook stipend opportunity here at SAE International.
WHO'S ELIGIBLE FOR THIS STIPEND?
To be considered for the stipend, we ask that the student is a
current paid SAE International student member, enrolled in
either an undergraduate or graduate program, enrolled in an
engineering-related field, and has a 3.0 cumulative college
GPA or higher. Note that students who are pursing further
education past their current graduation will be required to
show proof.
HOW ARE THE WINNERS DECIDED?
First, student members write an essay about how their
membership and involvement in SAE has helped them reach
their academic and professional goals so far. Then our review
committee judges those essays based on organization and
development ideas, the quality of SAE involvement, and the
diversity of SAE involvement and activities.
WHEN DO THE APPLICATION WINDOWS
OPEN?
Each year, there are two application windows: applications
for the autumn semester are open January 15 through April
15, and applications for the spring semester are open from
August 15 through November 15. The autumn award is
announced in early May and the spring award is announced
in early December.
