Climate control systems
Modine (Racine, Wisconsin) expanded its
EVantage portfolio with the launch of the
Cabin Climate System (CCS), a comprehensive
thermal management solution specifically
designed for commercial, off-highway,
and specialty electric vehicles. Engineered
for optimal passenger comfort, CCS reportedly
delivers precise temperature control for EV cabins, offering
immediate heating and cooling capabilities. Modine states
that the system has 12 kW of cooling capacity and 10 kW of
heating capacity. The system was designed to seamlessly integrate
into the vehicle's chassis to reduce design complexity.
Additionally, the system's capabilities are driven by smart electric
components, such as an ingress-protected high-voltage
electric compressor, a high-voltage coolant heater, a coolant
pump and Modine's proprietary heat exchangers.

EV fuses
Eaton (Southfield, Michigan) announced it
is now offering a portfolio of fuses for commercial
electrified vehicles (EVs). Eaton
Bussmann series fuses are rated for up to
1,400 amps and 900 volts and can be tailored
to customer specifications. Eaton can
increase current capability by either design
modifications or paralleling multiple fuses. The units are reportedly
designed to perform in harsh environments and
cope with vehicle vibrations. Eaton states that it has adapted
its fuses to be the ideal solution for electrified commercial
vehicles, which require greater power than passenger EVs.
Since commercial electric motors in EVs operate cyclically and
need to perform in harsh environments, the fuses must be
able to handle such conditions and the vehicle's vibrations.

Anti-reflection display
Utilized in Bobcat's (West Fargo,
North Dakota) T7X all-electric compact
track loader, the Giotto off-theshelf
display from MTA (Codogno,
Italy) features an instrument panel
screen with anti-fingerprint, anti-reflection
and other treatments that
eliminate the air between the glass and the plastics. These features
reportedly ensure maximum visibility in every situation.
The display also features materials and design solutions adopted
to ensure an IP66 degree of protection, as well as high
resistance to vibrations and extreme temperatures. MTA supplied
the display with basic software and the MTA Studio tool,
which was developed to meet the specific needs of the loader.

Industrial engines
John Deere (Moline, Illinois) announced
the new JD14 industrial engine that reportedly
provides exceptional power
output per liter and offers 14% higher
power and 11% increased peak torque
compared with its predecessor. The JD14
features hydraulic lash adjusters to mitigate
valve wear and prolong engine life
while eliminating the need for valve lash maintenance. An intelligent
control system continuously analyzes sensor data for
smooth operation without interruptions. The in-line aftertreatment
system offers flexibility, with 90 degrees of optionality for
horizontal or vertical mounting, ensuring compatibility with a
diverse range of machinery while reducing connection points
and optimizing thermal management. Notably, the JD14 engine
operates without the need for a diesel particulate filter (DPF).

Battery packs
Eleo (Helmond, Netherlands) unveiled
a new range of battery packs
specifically designed for off-highway
applications. Eleo states that these
packs are tailored to the specific
requirements of low-volume, high-diversity off-highway vehicles
and equipment. Eleo also states that these packs ensure
consistent high-performance and are engineered to
thrive in demanding environments. All battery packs are tested
to withstand the dust, shock, vibration and water that offhighway
vehicles and equipment must face. The packs also
feature a flexible, modular design that accommodates space
constraints, with both horizontal and vertical placement options
with a scalable voltage range from 50V to 720V and a
maximum continuous power output of up to 90 kW.

Commercial tires
Goodyear (Akron, Ohio) introduced two additions
to its RangeMax line of tires: the
RangeMax RSA ULT and the RangeMax RTD
ULT. Engineered for electric and gas- or diesel-powered
regional work vehicles, the latest
Goodyear RangeMax tires are a steer-drive
combo that reportedly help deliver range efficiency
through low rolling resistance. The RangeMax RSA
ULT is available in 225/70R19.5 and 245/70R19.5 sizes. The
sawtooth shoulder groove design provides an aggressive pattern
for mud and snow as well as the three-peak mountain
snowflake rating. The RangeMax RTD ULT is available in
225/70R19.5 and 245/70R19.5 sizes and utilizes a soybean oil
tread compound with a deep open-shoulder tread design.
