Is it a lazy pun to say " the
sky's the limit " when talking
about aerospace
manufacturing? Regardless,
with AM, it's true: AM
enables the use of a wide
range of materials, including
advanced polymers, metals,
and composites, tailored for
specific aerospace
applications. This flexibility
in material selection and
customization contributes to
improved performance,
durability, and even the
possibility of creating
materials with unique
properties. Advanced
components are being
developed through AM to
create more lightweight,
aerodynamic, and efficient
aircraft every day.
Of course, as with any new
technology, there are the
requisite safety challenges to
consider; despite its advantages,
implementing AM in aerospace
design will involve a lot of
regulatory, qualification, and
standardization efforts.

and parts created through AM are no exception.
