GiM 2024: A hat trick review

Automated Driving Systems-Testing,
Deployment, and Validation
This session began with a series of 10-minute
presentations focused on simulation and validation
frameworks in supports of ADS deployment, as well as
insights from ADS safety standardization efforts. An
hour-long moderated discussion followed.
" In my view, on-board, context-based decision
making remains the greatest challenge to high-level
automation, along with agreed-upon methods and
tools to evaluate performance. Infrastructure and
communications will play increasing roles in vehicle
automation, " said Ed Straub, one of the session's
organizers. Straub is the Vice President of Land
Systems with the SAE Industry Technologies
Consortia (SAE ITC®), a global collection of consortia
dedicated to developing technology-neutral,
collaborative industry solutions for some of the
greatest challenges facing modern mobility. He also
serves as Executive Director of the Automated Vehicle
Safety Consortium™ (AVSC).
