Fellowship nominations close soon
The SAE Fellow membership designation is
an elite title awarded to approximately 20
SAE members each year. SAE Fellows are
individuals of the highest caliber-
exceptional engineers who truly make a
difference in the world of mobility. Through
leadership, research, publication, innovation,
and volunteerism, SAE Fellows embody the
spirit of SAE and enact change for the
greater good of mobility engineering.
The window to nominate new SAE
Fellows will close on July 1, 2024. The
qualifications to be nominated are as
follows:
* Nominee must be a current SAE member.
* Nominee must have either 10+ years of
SAE membership service or 2 years of
SAE membership service plus 10+ years
of volunteer service through SAE (e.g.,
participating in a technical or standards
committee, authoring a technical paper,
serving as an industrial lecturer, etc.).
* Nominator must be current SAE member
or SAE Fellow.

of nominations, here are just a few of the
remarkable individuals from the 2023
cohort, which gathered for the annual SAE
Fellows dinner during WCX in April:
6 June 2024
Hiroshi Nakamura, Ph.D.,
Doshisha University
Nakamura was nominated for bringing
drastic innovation to portable emissions
measurement systems and changing the
procedure of emissions certification from
laboratory to on-road. It was his global
leadership that enabled the production of
flagship emissions measurement systems.
Homayoun " Holmes "
Ahari, Ph.D., Stellantis
Ahari was nominated for his outstanding
technical leadership to the mobility
industry through research, discovery,
development, design, optimization, and
deployment of robust diesel
aftertreatment catalyst systems for
eliminating the release of nitrogen oxide
pollutants and nitrous oxide greenhouse
gases into the environment, thereby
crucially contributing to real-world air
quality improvement.
