autonomous highway trucks

can make the freeways lot more
friendly both for the autonomous
truck and the rest of the freeway
vehicles.
I am sure that the leaders of
the key truck autonomy players
are only too familiar with the
regulatory or infrastructure
shortfalls. Personally, I hope they
are weighing in all these factors,
along with the commercial and
investment pressure, before

taking the big step of introducing " unmanned " trucks
on America's busy highways. n
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Dr. Partha Goswami has 30+ years of experience in the automotive
industry in R&D, planning, and technology strategy. In his most recent
role in GM as Professional Fellow of technology trends, he was
responsible for identifying emerging tech trends and their impacts.
Goswami regularly speaks at industry forums and is actively engaged
in the industry as an advisor in several industry groups and as a
regular judge for startup competition in non-profit Global Automotive
Mobility Innovation Challenge (GAMIC). He recently completed a
three-year tenure as chair of the SAE's Vehicle IoT committee.
Currently, Goswami freelances as Principal at PG Mobility Analysis,
where he focuses on emerging technology trends and the future of
the automotive industry. He also serves as a consulting partner with
Automobility Advisors and 3IS Inc. He holds a Ph.D. in Applied
Mechanics from Iowa State University, MBA from University of
Michigan, and a certification as a foresight professional from
