Charge Network Communication
(OPNC) Protocol recently
announced by CharIN, " said Oleg

with CharIN's mission to promote
EV adoption through the
adoption of open and
standardized technology for
charging EVs of all types in as
many parts of the world. "
Just a few weeks later, SAE ITC
announced its strategic
expansion into the railway sector.
This expansion aims to address
the current lack of intercity rail
technology alignment and
standardization, particularly in
North America.
SAE ITC offers a neutral, precompetitive
platform for public,
private, academic, and
government organizations to
connect and collaborate. As the
consortia spreads their focus to

president and COO, emphasized the role of
collaboration: " Our commitment will not be to
compete, but rather support UIC, UNISIG, FRA, APTA,
AAR, NYU, and HSRA initiatives. "
Rail holds the potential to mitigate humanity's
overall climate impact and is an essential piece of the
sustainable mobility puzzle. As a long-time champion
for sustainable and safe mobility, the SAE ITC's
expansion to rail is a natural next step. Airlines already
rely on AESQ and ARINC IA standards for safe
landings, and robotaxi companies adhere to AVSC
best practices to mitigate public hazards. Soon
enough, the rail industry will also benefit from the
SAE ITC's shared solutions. n
