two aim to function as a cooperative set of documents.
" ARP7131 is not meant to replace RTCA DO-311A, but
be alongside it in terms of guidance. 311A provides the
testing basics and so with ARP7131, you can put
together a fairly large database of what you know
about your cells, " Belt said.
He explained that the testing methods in ARP7131
can be applied to any model of battery and allows
engineers to map out battery qualities in a more
precise manner. " The first step involves looking at the
thermal runaway characteristics of whichever cell you
think you might want to use. You'll look at multiple
cells and say, 'Well, I really like this one. What kinds of
methods can we use to put it into thermal runaway?'
Belt said. Belt described how he and his team
conducted this test.
