2024 season recap
Snow, hey-oh
There was a period when it
looked like the SAE Clean
Snowmobile Challenge (CSC)
would have to be canceled this
year. Normally, snow is a surething
for Michigan winters. But
no weather is certain in today's
ever-changing climate; the irony
of almost not having enough
snow to host a competition
focused on environmentally
friendly snowmobile engineering
was not lost.
Luckily, the historic lack of
snow resolved itself just in time
for Rochester Institute of
Technology to come through
and sweep the CSC's spark
ignition class early this year. The
team earned first place overall,
with several additional high
ranks for individual events.
In the compression ignition
class, the University of WisconsinPlatteville
continued their
winning streak and brought home
first place one again. Check out

Formula for the win

Rochester Institute of Technology earned first place for the spark ignition
class during this year's SAE Clean Snowmobile Challenge.

" Having the opportunity to gain industry experience
in a fun, goal-oriented project team where you get to
build a race car is a great reason by itself, but most of
our team members stick around because of the
people, " said Colin Mullan, team president of The Ohio
State University's Formula Buckeyes team. " Working
in a group of like-minded engineers, learning from
them, and then becoming a mentor for your team's
future is a great way to gain valuable teamwork,
technical, and leadership skills. "
Formula Buckeyes finished in first place overall at
the Michigan Formula SAE competition in May-
snagging the top spot for the first time in the team's
36-year history.
" I'm proud of so many people, and don't think I
stopped smiling for a good couple of weeks after our
competition, " Mullan said.
Formula SAE might be the most prolific of SAE's
University Programs, branching into IC, EV, and hybrid
sub-competitions. The talent pool at Formula SAE
events runs deep and recruiters know it. In New
