Yokogawa Test & Measurement
Corporation (Tokyo, Japan) released
the AQ2300 series highperformance,
high-speed source
measure unit. The company
states that this unit addresses
various density needs for semiconductor/communication
devices and that the AQ2300 series
modular SMU offers high-quality pulse generation alongside
high-precision voltage/current generation and measurements.
Thanks to its inherent productivity and expandability characteristics,
the two-channel SMU module also saves time and space
when performing the typically complex measurement functions
essential for semiconductor devices. The AQ2300 Series can
be used for the evaluation and inspection of optical semiconductor
components such as LD, PD, LED and modulator, and
semiconductor components such as transistors and FET.

Schottky barrier diodes
ROHM Semiconductor (Santa Clara,
California) announced new surface
mount SiC Schottky barrier diodes
that improve insulation resistance by
increasing the creepage distance
between terminals. The initial lineup
includes eight models (SCS2xxxNHR)
for automotive applications such as onboard chargers and ROHM
has plans to deploy eight additional models (SCS2xxxN) for industrial
equipment such as FA devices and PV inverters. Two voltage
ratings are offered - 650V and 1200V - supporting 400V
systems commonly used in EVs, as well as higher voltage systems
expected to gain wider adoption in the future. The automotivegrade
SCS2xxxNHR are AEC-Q101 qualified, ensuring they meet
the high reliability standards this application sector demands.

Power modules
Vicor (Andover, Massachusetts) has
released a trio of automotive-grade
power modules. The company states
that the modules deliver industryleading
power density and can be
used to accelerate the adoption of
48V zonal architectures. The family of modules includes the
BCM6135, DCM3735 and PRM3735. All three units support
48V power distribution in vehicles, with 800V-to-48V conversion,
48V regulation and 48V-to-12V regulation as well as
conversion capability for legacy 12V subsystems. Vicor also
claims that all three modules can be arrayed to scale up power
levels, offering significant power system weight reduction.

AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERING
EV transmissions
Amsted
Automotive
(Southfield,
Michigan) announced
a new
multi-speed
shift technology
that will
launch in an EV production vehicle in 2026. This system uses
integrated one-way-clutch functionality to optimize function,
efficiency and range in EV drivetrains. This technology
can provide flexible system solutions to achieve smooth and
quick shift transitions with simplified shift controls compared
to conventional technology. Amsted also states that
this technology can be used in both parallel-axis and coaxial
powertrain systems. One variation eliminates friction
clutches for reduced drag, improved efficiency and improved
sustainability metrics. Advantages of the Amsted
one-way clutch over dog-clutch style systems include no
blocked or interrupted shifts, no ratcheting during shifts,
simplified system controls, additional functionality such as
park-lock and easier calibration.
