IO-Link Smart Field I/O System
High-Power Connector
AutomationDirect (Cumming, GA) has added STRIDE &
Murrelektronik IO-Link master modules and hubs to their existing
field I/O product line. IO-Link is a powerful field I/O protocol
capable of handling traditional field I/O signals along with diagnostic
data from intelligent field devices, including device health,
configured parameters, and performance. IO-Link master modules
are the interface between field devices and higher-level controllers/information systems, and they also
control data traffic between the connected devices. Two IO-Link master modules are now available that
convert IO-Link signals to/from EtherNet/IP, OPC UA, and MQTT. The STRIDE IO-Link master will
convert IO-Link data to EtherNet/IP messages for better insight into system performance using a
well-established fieldbus protocol. The Murrelektronik premium master module provides the same
advantages as the lower-cost STRIDE version, with the added capabilities of OPC and MQTT. IO-Link
hubs provide up to 16 multifunctional DIO channels that allow several standard sensors and actuators
to connect to an IO-Link master using a single cable. The hubs offer an economical solution for a
highly decentralized installation.

Three-Axes Positioning Stages
Four new three-axes stages from Optimal Engineering Systems Inc. (Van
Nuys, CA) are the ideal choices for laser scanning, drilling, and machining,
reverse engineering, inspection, assembly, measurements, tracking, and positioning.
The YPR-45-15-60 Series of three-axes Stages were developed
through the integration of a 60 mm diameter rotary stage (upper axis) capable
of 360 degrees of continuous operation, and two goniometers (middle
and lower axes) each having travel ranges of +/- 15 degrees and +/- 45 respectively.
This series of three-axes stages feature four motor options. The -01
option is Stepper Motor driven, the -02 option is Three Phase-Servo Motor
driven, the -03 is DC Servo Motor Driven, and the -04 option is Stepper Motor
Driven with Quadrature Optical Encoders for position verification. Each of these
stages can be ordered with a fully plug-and-play compatible multi-axis motion controller for any motor
combination from OES.

Hardware Module for Ethernet-APL
Softing Industrial Automation (Haar, Germany) has introduced commModule
APL, a new hardware module designed to support device manufacturers in
implementing Ethernet-APL field devices for the process industry
quickly and reliably. Ethernet Advanced Physical Layer (Ethernet-APL)
is the new standard for end-to-end digital communication in the process
industry. As a ready-to-use and pre-certified hardware for the implementation
of Ethernet-APL field devices, commModule APL supports manufacturers in
exactly this challenge. The hardware module provides connectivity to EthernetAPL
as well as an application software that can be easily configured to implement the required behavior
of the respective field device. The commModule-APL is delivered with a pre-installed PROFINET
stack. It provides a configurable application data model and commands mapping to migrate existing
HART and Modbus devices to Ethernet-APL. This does not require writing a single line of code.

Miniature Voice Coil Motor
The miniature hollow core HVCM-019-032-003-02 Voice Coil Motor
introduced by Moticont (Van Nuys, CA), features a 3.2-mm open aperture
and high force-to-size ratio. A true DC Servo Motor, it has a continuous
force rating of 2.1 N (7.4 oz.) and a peak force of 6.5 N (23.3 oz)
at a 10 percent duty cycle. This quiet, clean, non-commutated, miniature
brushless servo motor features zero cogging and zero backlash when connected directly to a load, high
acceleration, deceleration, and high speed. The open aperture of the HVCM-019-032-003-02 Linear
Motor allows for optics, illumination, laser beams, or passage of cables. The extended length of the
motor is 47.6 mm (1.88 in) at mid-stroke. It is ideal for applications including haptic feedback, medical
diagnostic equipment, testing, optical focusing, positioning, laser beam steering, wafer handling, dynamic
vibration absorption, laser drilling, cutting, welding, and machining applications.
