PRODUCT OF THE MONTH
n PCAP Touchscreens
Schurter, Santa Rosa, CA, has recently completed its production facility for its human-machine interface (HMI)
capabilities. The facility will manufacture the company's projected capacitive (PCAP) touchscreen line. The company
can manufacture prototypes for pretesting and fast market introductions. In addition to HMI solutions, the company
develops power entry modules that offer low leakage filters, ground line chokes, cord retaining solutions, and
IP-rated units such as its new 6080 series, which is IP54 rated under load. Other capabilities include electronic manufacturing
services for medical equipment.

n Sterile Connectors
Qosina, Ronkonkoma, NY, has
introduced a series of sterile connectors.
The AseptiQuik® STC
connectors integrate the company's
AseptiQuik sterile connector and its Steam-Thru® II Steamin-Place
connector that can be mounted directly to stainless steel
processing equipment via a sanitary termination. They offer a
genderless design, simplifying system integration at the aseptic
connector end. Available in both standard and high-temperature
versions, the connectors are recommended for gamma and autoclave
sterilization methods and are made with polycarbonate and
silicone materials.

n Push-Pull Connector
Fischer Connectors, Saint-Prex,
Switzerland, has launched a series
of connectors designed for disposal
after a short number of uses. The
Core Series Disposable push-pull
circular connector can be directly mounted into a disposable handpiece,
overmolded, or mounted onto a disposable cable. The
pre-cabled plastic connector offers multiple configurations and is
suitable for applications ranging from catheters to surgical hand
tools. With an ingress protection of IP40 and a high degree of electrical
insulation, it is compatible with the company's Core Series
Brass 104 receptacles.

n Pressure Sensors
Clippard, Cincinnati, OH, has expanded
the Cordis family with this new
transducer line. The piezoresistive silicone
pressure sensors can either be used
as feedback for the company's CPC pressure
controller or as a standalone transducer.
Current optional outputs are 0-5, 0-10, and 0.5-4.5 VDC. The
transducers are conditioned and temperature compensated. Calibration
is customized specific to the application requirements. Multiple
mounting options allow the user to place the sensor downstream or in
a remote location from the pressure controller. The manifold mount
lends itself well to analytical value-added assemblies. All wetted materials
are oxygen compatible, and manifold mounting eliminates any possible
contamination during assembly.

n Single-Patient Use Connectors
LEMO, Rohnert Park, CA, offers specialized
connectors for critical applications
in the electrosurgical device market.
The REDEL® Single-Patient Use
Connector Series includes the REDEL
1P receptacle, which is compliant with
the ANSI/AAMI HF18:2001 standard for electrosurgical devices.
The snap-in design eliminates hardware costs and is easily designed
into the base of a surgical handpiece. Optional snap-on backshells
are available in either PSU or ABS plastic if cable mounting is preferred.
Specific reverse gender keyway configurations are available
for the 9, 10, and 14-pin versions. Optional colors and keyways are
also available to avoid improper mating. Options include solder cup
or PCB pins and steam autoclave sterilizable extension cables.

n Magnetic Cable Connector
Onanon, Milpitas, CA, offers a magnetic,
self-connecting connector. MagConnect's
design allows for it to easily
decouple when necessary. The decoupling
feature can be calibrated to disconnect
at different pressure levels, ranging from 1 to 5 lbs of pressure.
The magnetic cable connector integrates into a variety of
applications, including high voltage, low voltage, and EMI requirements.
It is designed to be a durable, long-lasting connector and is
available in both reusable and disposable options.

n Coaxial Cable Assemblies
Junkosha, Tokyo, Japan, has launched
product selection tool for the company's microwave
and millimeter-wave coaxial cable
assemblies. The assemblies are customizable
to a variety of test and measurement and
high-frequency applications. With the Cable
Assembly Designer tool, users can preselect
their desired usage conditions and apply various filters such as frequency,
phase stability performance, and applications to generate a list of
products that best meet their requirements. In addition to this, the
design tool automatically calculates and confirms electrical characteristics
necessary for product selection, thereby making it easy to use, particularly
when the product model number is unknown and needs to be
specified independent of the connector.
