n Blue Diode Laser Welding
AMADA WELD TECH, Monrovia, CA, has integrated blue laser
technology into its suite of micro welding technologies for welding
highly reflective materials, notably copper. Blue lasers operate
at a wavelength of approximately 450 nm, resulting in more
efficient energy utilization, reduced heat input, reduction of
spatter, and enhanced precision in micro welding tasks. The blue
laser systems offer power levels up to 1500 W, and with capabilities
extending up 4000 W for industrial applications. Feasibility
studies can be run in the company's Western Technical Center in Monrovia. The technical
center capability includes power levels up to 1500 W and spot sizes between 200 and 500
µm in diameter.

maxon, Taunton, MA, has launched of a high-efficiency joint drive.
The HEJ 70-48-50 actuator caters specifically to autonomous mobile robots
operating in unstructured environments such as humanoids, quadrupeds,
exoskeletons, or mobile manipulators. The actuator delivers a
peak torque of 50 Nm and reaches speeds up to 28 rad/s while maintaining
a mass just above 1 kg. Its compact design and high torque density

n Reciprocating Head for Medical Tubing
A new reciprocating head for medical tubing is available
from Guill Tool, West Warwick, RI. The traditional tip-anddie
assembly is replaced with a linear reciprocating assembly
that changes the tube's profile within a given length. This
process is repeated throughout a single extrusion run without
interruptions. Cutting capability, in association with the
extrusion speed, cuts the finished product to length. The head eliminates an entire assembly
operation and eliminates in-process inventory. It eliminates a connecting piece and allows JIT
production and products made-to-order.

n Linear Voice Coil Servo Motor
Moticont, Van Nuys, CA, has released a new linear servo motor
in its GVCM-032 Series. The GVCM-032-038-02M with a
25.4 mm (1.00 in.) stroke is a compact linear servo motor with
built-in shaft and bearing and is just 31.8 mm (1.250 in.) in
diameter. The combined length with the coil end is 47.63 mm
(1.875 in.) long, and in the fully extended position, extends
28.6 mm (1.125 in.) beyond the face of the housing. The shaft
has an M2.2X0.45 × 0.20 thread, and the housing and coil ends have two M3.5X0.6 0.20
mounting holes on a 12.7 mm (0.500 in) bolt circle for easy integration into new or existing
applications.
