and snack manufacturer Taste of
Nature, Inc., Santa Monica, CA,
announced a new licensing partnership for Mrs. Fields-branded prepackaged cookies.
Finsbury Food Group PLC, a
London-based maker of specialty
cake, bread and breakfast foods for
retail and foodservice, plans to close
its Grain D'Or business.
Flagship Food Group, Greenwood
Village, CO, acquired certain
assets of Glutenfreeda Foods, Inc.,
including its brand portfolio and
manufacturing facility located near
Seattle.
Mondelez International, Inc.,
Deerfield, IL, is transitioning its
Triscuit product portfolio to be NonGMO Project verified.
TreeHouse Foods, Inc., Oak Brook,
IL, plans to close plants in Brooklyn
Park, MN, and Plymouth, IN. The
company also said it will shift nonpeanut packaging operations out of
its Dothan, AL, plant.
Pamplona Capital Management,
London, has completed its acquisition of BakeMark, New York, from
CSM Bakery Solutions, Bonner
Springs, KS.
TNA Solutions Pty Ltd., Sydney, a
global supplier of food processing
and packaging solutions, opened a
new office in Moscow.
Shick Solutions and Esteve Process
become Shick Esteve
Ingredient process automation companies Shick
Solutions,
Kansas
City,
MO, and Esteve Process,
Rians, France, in August announced their intent to become one global entity, Shick
Esteve.
After Breteche Industrie
Group acquired Shick Solutions in June of
2016, the companies have been working
toward a combined business strategy. The
two operations centers employ a combined 280 individuals and encompass more
than 285,000 sq ft of office
and manufacturing space.
"Since being acquired by
Breteche we have maintained the same
customer-focused culture as we have
always had," said Tim Cook, previously
Shick Solutions' president, now Shick
Esteve president and CEO. "This merger
is an extension of that and will give us
additional capability in serving our customers."
Mr. Cook is a member of
the Breteche management
team along with the leaders
of other Breteche companies.
The integration allows
Shick Esteve to serve the industry with a broader reach
of resources and additional technologies
from a network of global service centers.
Combined efforts will increase research
and development, bringing higher levels
of technology to the market.
In the coming months, customers will
see new branding featuring the Shick
Esteve logo as well as updates to websites
and communication channels.
PepsiCo makes progress toward sustainability goal
PepsiCo, Inc., Purchase, NY, announced
progress in its goal to use 100% sustainable
oil by the year 2020. In its annual "Palm
Oil Action Plan Progress Report," the
company outlined efforts to strengthen its
supply chain, including steps taken to promote human rights, responsible land use
and supplier transparency.
According to the report, PepsiCo can
now trace 89% of the palm oil it expects to
use during 2017 to the mill level, which is
up from 65% in 2015. The company also
has taken steps to extend traceability to the
plantation level, aiming for 100% traceability by 2020.
"PepsiCo takes environmental and
social issues within the palm oil industry very seriously, and we are
making significant invest-

ments to improve every aspect of our
palm oil supply chain," said Rob Meyers,
sustainability director, PepsiCo. "We have
made important progress, achieving substantially greater visibility into our suppliers' activities and moving closer to our
goal of sustainably sourcing 100% of our
palm oil by 2020. PepsiCo is committed
to doing much more, and we believe that
the steps we are taking to promote higher standards among palm suppliers will
place us at the forefront of our industry."
PepsiCo also has made investments in
the improvement of practices in key palm
oil sourcing regions. The company now
sponsors the National Interpretation of
the Rountable for Sustainable Palm Oil
Principles and Criteria in Mexico and supports a program that provides training on
High Conservation Value
and High Carbon Stock
assessments.
