INTERNATIONAL INSIGHT: IBIE
IBIE 2016 BUILDS GLOBAL PARTICIPATION.

With each passing show cycle, IBIE continues to demonstrate its influence on the global grain-based foods industry. In 2016, this is evident with the new and continued
programs, services and offerings that look to break down
barriers and create new opportunities so international attendees see IBIE as a destination and receive the support
they need on site.
More than 30% of IBIE's attendance is international
and represents more than 100 countries. Efforts to build
on this momentum include the International Buyers
Program (IBP). For the third consecutive show, the partnership between IBIE and the US Commercial Service
has been instrumental in identifying target markets and
offering marketing support to help drive attendance.
In 2013, IBP hosted delegations from Brazil, China,
Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Indonesia, Honduras,
Hungary, Japan, Mexico, Peru, Russia and many more.
For 2016, the IBIE Committee has identified countries
that currently stand out in terms of product and technology innovation, including Argentina, South Africa,
Brazil and China. IBP participants at IBIE receive special benefits, including discounted registration, access
to the International Trade Center & Lounge, translators,
tours and matchmaking services.
In addition, IBIE is also working to grow international
participation by ramping up a presence at other international events and supporting association partners. For example, IBIE Chairman Michael Cornelis was at the FHA
show in Singapore promoting IBIE; Committee member
Fred Springer was at Foodex in Birmingham, UK; and IBIE
had a presence at iba, Europain, Gulf Foods Manufacturing,
Bakery China, FIPAN and MOBAC.
IBIE's international Task Force chair, Jorge Zárate
Lupercio of Grupo Bimbo, Mexico City, is leading these
more aggressive efforts to target international prospects, as
well as communicating specific show resources that these
visitors can use to make the most of their show. With a
multi-channel campaign that combines media, direct mar-

keting and personal outreach, IBIE has stepped up marketing efforts to promote the show and the launch of new features at IBIE 2016.
One new resource is the IBIEConnect platform, which
allows attendees to network with exhibitors by searching
for exhibiting company's products through a portal on
www.ibie2016.com. Not only can visitors sort by exhibiting
company name to schedule meetings, but they can also sort

by language to determine the companies who have bilingual staff and use it to help navigate the show on site.
IBIE has also added a new international track to the education program for 2016. Sessions include Food Labeling
for US Import, Trends and Opportunities in the Mexican
Baking Market for US Exporters and How to Introduce
Your Products to the US Market. The program features
more than 90 sessions focusing on a variety of topics that
are relevant to both international and domestic attendees.
As in previous shows, international visitors can
visit the International Trade Lounge to meet with US
Commercial Service staff and translators, network with
other attendees and access the Export Interest Directory,
which identifies suppliers who export and the countries
where they do business.
Attendees will also see a growing presence of international exhibitors - with 160 confirmed and more reserving space every day.
International participants are encouraged to visit the international and foreign language pages of
www.IBIE2016.com for additional information on how to
join a delegation and to register.
