AIB celebrates 100 years

Attendees visited with the association's global team
Commemorating a century of
in-depth knowledge and technical expertise, AIB International
(Booth No. 4837) hosted an anniversary event at its booth on Monday. All show attendees were invited to the celebration, and AIB
International welcomed longstanding clients and friends as
well as alumni from many of the
organization's training programs.
"AIB International is celebrating
a milestone that very few can claim

the food industry," said Andre
Biane, president and CEO of AIB
International. "Our global team of
professionals are passionate about

food, and each of us shares our clients' unwavering commitment to
delivering safe, high-quality food
to their consumers every day."
The party kicked off with a
champagne toast followed by hors
d'oeuvres. Guests were able to visit with the global team of experts
and check out the AIB International's new VirtualInspector immersive training simulation.
While this is a major milestone
for AIB International, the association is also ready for the century
ahead. "The food ecosystem is very
complex with increasing regulations and more informed consumers," Mr. Biane said. "I see this as an

opportunity to consult with clients

Shick Esteve to open innovation center
Opportunities await bakers and snack producers
In December, Shick Esteve
(Booth No. 6569) will begin operation at the new and improved
Linxis North American Technology Center in Kansas City, MO.
The approximately 15,000-sq-ft
facility has been expanded and
renovated to become a hands-on
test lab for education and demonstration opportunities.
The center will give customers the chance to evaluate their
formulations using the latest
ingredient automation, mix-

ing and depositing technology
as well as cutting-edge process control and IIoT technology. Combining the equipment
capabilities and expertise of
all Linxis Group partners 

(Booth No. 6527 and 6531)
and VMI (Booth Nos. 2605,
6779)  the center's processes
include automated minor ingredients, liquid automation,
liquid blending, dough mix-

ing, pre-dough and fermentation technology, state-of-theart process control system, dry
ingredient blending and sifter
validation. Many of these technologies are being showcased
at IBIE and can be seen at the
Linxis Group partners' booths.

Remembering 9/11
No doubt every American remembers vividly the tragic moments of Sept. 11, 2001.
Many members of the baking industry
were here at IBIE. The Expo closed that
day, and the industry came together offering comfort and camaraderie. While most
have healed in the 18 years since the attack,
no one will forget.
Fred Springer, president, Burford Corp.
and IBIE committee member: "It was disbelief. I only remember the sheer disbelief."

Dennis Gunnell, president, Formost Fuji and
IBIE committee member: "The thing I remember most, aside from the tragedy, is how everyone came together to get people home to their
loved ones. There was a scramble to get cars and
get them filled so people could get home."
Robin Alton, president and CEO, Pan-O-Gold
Baking: "It was such an eerie feeling. It put a
cloud over the show. Nothing was the same - at
the show and in people's lives. Looking forward,
we remember, but here at the show today, we
don't let it cloud where we are today."

Robb MacKie, president and CEO, American
Bakers Association: "The committee rightly believed we need to recognize it, but we also need
to recognize the world has changed. But part of
moving on is that we're here to do business and
support the industry. It shows the resilience of
the country and the industry that we're here so
many years later, and stronger than ever."
On Wednesday, the American flag will show
on entrance screens for attendees to have a
moment of remembrance.
