IBIE SUNDAY
MIDDLEBY BAKERY GROUP HOSTS CELEBRATION
ON THE SHOW FLOOR
ON SUNDAY, SEPT. 18, from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.,
Middleby Bakery Group (Booth Nos. 2817, 3101
and 3201) will celebrate the 75th anniversary
of Stewart Systems at their booths in the
West Hall.
Founded in 1947 as Stewart Engineering
and Equipment, the company entered
the baking industry with Harold Stewart's
patented Stewart Monoflex Bread Cooler,
the first cooler for bread that used a continuous
belt system. In the 1980s, offerings
included conveyorized ovens and proofers
under the leadership of Don Lummus, who
became chief executive officer in 1971. Continuing
product development led to aggressive
growth in other sectors of the industrial
bakery with the manufacture of depanners/
delidders and packaging equipment.
Stewart Systems was acquired by The
Middleby Corp. in 2012 providing the global
infrastructure necessary for Stewart to flourish
beyond previous markets.
" The business transformed from producing
overhead coolers to offering complete bakery
systems, " said Len Kilby, advisor, Middleby
Bakery Group. " Middleby took it to the next level
with an improved business structure, more global
access and new product development. "
Recently, Stewart introduced the new
Rack N Stack to automate many bakery areas
from trough handling through finished goods
distribution with Automated Guided Vehicle
technology.
Middleby Food Processing provides a
broad portfolio of globally recognized brands
for food production. Dedicated industrial baking
brands Auto-Bake Serpentine, Baker Thermal
Solutions, Burford, Colussi Ermes, Glimek,
Hinds-Bock,
Pacproinc,
Proxaut,
Scanico,
Spooner Vicars and Sveba Dahlen partner for
end-to-end solutions.
Mr. Kilby foresees Stewart Systems enjoying
long-lasting customer success with the
Middleby framework coupled with its durable
high-speed bread and bun lines. *

REISER DEMONSTRATES NEW DIVIDER WITH THE LATEST
DIGITAL CONTROLS
REISER (BOOTH NO. 2145) is providing live demonstrations
of its new Vemag HPR Series dough divider
that features an Allen-Bradley (Rockwell)
control system.
" The Vemag HPR features a newly engineered
product infeed system, along with the
latest in double-screw portioning technology,
to handle and scale products gently and precisely, "
said John McIsaac, vice president of
strategic development, Reiser. " It consistently
produces the highest quality bakery products.
A user-friendly touch-screen controller allows
easy operation, easy diagnostics and easy line
integration. "
The controls allow the Vemag HPR to communicate
with other downstream equipment to
enable cycle start and stops that save on labor
and reduce product waste. With dual moulders,
for example, the Vemag HPR can be set to
automatically stop sending dough to a moulder
that is down or pick up speed to maintain high
production levels. It can also integrate with intermediate
proofers on high-speed bun lines.
" Shutting down fast when there is an issue
downstream saves not only product but also operator
aggravation, " Mr. McIsaac said. " Cycled

restarts can also save many footsteps.
This is all much easier to do when all
the machinery is speaking the same
language. "
The Vemag HPR has a diagnostic
package that was developed with
both operators and technicians
in mind. Its controller guides
the operator through every step
with a " help " button for every adjustment,
and it can be quickly
configured to provide access
to just the information
needed to run the line. The
divider also provides easy
access for maintenance technicians,
and the HMI includes the machine's
schematics.
" The Vemag reminds technicians
when to do maintenance
and pinpoints potential
issues quickly, " Mr. McIsaac said.
" If there is a line problem, the
Vemag's controller helps to quickly
diagnose and resolve it. " *
