However, the habits and behaviors of consumers have evolved, as have their expectations. Essentially, the mobility of today's consumers is making it considerably difficult for traditional advertising channels to create sustained awareness. To effectively impact and increase awareness, brands and advertisers need to reach consumers not only at their homes or offices, but also in their path to purchase. In 2010, the average household watched 5½ hours of television per day. In 2016, that number is projected to drop to less than 4½ hours, which significantly cuts down on static brand in-home exposure time. A relatively new advertising method whose popularity is "heating up" in the packaged baked goods and dessert space as an effective way to reach consumers in the path to purchase is digital out of home (DOOH) advertising.
