" healthy " food, the number-one attribute
was " fresh, " as selected by 40% of survey
respondents. " Natural " was chosen by 30%
of respondents. (More than one trait could be
selected by the 1,022 adults surveyed.)
In general, preference for products labeled
as " no added hormones or steroids " (40%),
" organic " (30%) and " non-GMO " (30%)
increased in 2023. And, nearly three out of 10
(29%) shoppers regularly purchase products
made with " clean ingredients. "
But it's not just what is in-or not in-the
food that matters to shoppers. Managing costs
is a priority.
Three in four Americans (76%) say price is
