offers digital delivery
EFFECTIVE WITH this issue, Milling &
Baking News has expanded delivery options
for its readers with the introduction of the
"digital edition" of the print magazine. The
digital edition presents a complete replica
of the weekly magazine viewable on its web
site, Bakingbusiness.com, within days of
printing.
This state-of-the-art delivery option presents all the magazine's familiar editorial
and advertising pages - from the cover
through the classifieds - in a convenient
format with interactive features that take
full advantage of the Internet.
"This is perhaps the most important enhancement we have offered M.&B.N. readers since the magazine was first published 82
years ago," said Mark Sabo, president and
publisher of Milling & Baking News. "For a
newsweekly, the ability to provide immediate access to all content at the precise time of
publication dramatically increases the value
for reader and advertiser alike."
No special software is required to view
the magazine, only an Internet browser.
The digital edition is best suited for highspeed Internet connections but works with
any connection above 56k. The issue may
be downloaded to a computer or laptop for
portability and reading offline.
The digital edition of Milling & Baking
News is accessible to all paid subscribers as
part of their subscriptions at no additional
cost. Subscribers may call for Sheryl, Nancy
or Gwen in the Circulation Department at
1-800-338-6201 to sign up for access to the
digital version. A valid e-mail address is
required.
On-line sign-up is also available on the

home page of Bakingbusiness.com
by clicking on the cover of this
week's magazine. A valid subscription number located on the
address label of a recent issue of
the print magazine is necessary to
complete on-line sign-up.
Those subscribers who sign up
to access the digital edition are
notified with a personal e-mail
when each new issue is posted
on Wednesday afternoon. A link
in the e-mail goes directly to the
latest issue on the web site. If
subscribers have their Internet
browsers set up to allow "cookies," logging in will not be necessary. Subscribers will also be
able to use their e-mail address
and a password to access the issue or the magazine archives at
any time.
When subscribers use the link in the
weekly e-mail, they are taken to this week's
issue. Clicking on the cover in the center of
the screen brings up this week's edition.
The magazine is presented just as it is in
print. Pages can be turned at the top corner
by clicking the mouse. A toolbar allows
readers to search, print and navigate faster
through the issue. (See sidebar on toolbar
explanation below). Some of the features
include:
* Zoom in to get a closer look at a photo
or story. View the issue as single pages or
spreads. Print any page.
* Use the Table of Contents to find favorite
features and jump directly to the story or ad.
* Search the issue and find the terms high-

PREVIOUS/NEXT PAGE ARROWS:

In addition to the complete issue, the
seven pages of Ingredient Week are featured
as a freestanding section under Ingredient
Markets on Bakingbusiness.com. Subscribers interested specifically in markets can
access those pages each Wednesday as well.
Issues published since November 2003
will be searchable in a new archive of the
digital editions. The magazine's complete
text archives from 1993 will soon be incorporated into the new archive.

TABLE OF CONTENTS/ SEARCH
WINDOW: Use the blue arrow at right of
the window to pull down the list of each
page and ad; select the page you want to
jump to.
SEARCH: Type your search term. Pages
featuring that term are highlighted in blue
in the Table of Contents window. Clicking
on a blue page takes you there, where it
zooms in to show you the search term
highlighted in yellow.

SINGLE PAGE VIEW: Changes from
displaying two-page spreads to one page
at a time. This speeds page turning.
TEXT MODE: Selecting text mode allows you to click on an article or ad and
see the text content in a popup window.
This toggles on and off, so deselect it to
return your mouse to zoom mode.
SAVE FOR OFFLINE: Save for offline
reading allows you to download a copy
to your hard drive to read off line.
PRINT: You can choose to print either
left or right pages.
