Pete Stallcop dies at age 88;
was first GEAPS staff executive
FAIRMONT, MINN. - Gilbert (Pete)
Stallcop, the first executive of the
Grain Elevator and Processing Society
(GEAPS), died June 14 in Fairmont. He
was 88 years old.
Born in Pomeroy, Wash., Mr. Stallcop
received a degree in agricultural business at Washington State University
in 1936 with a degree. He worked for
the Farm Security Administration and
later served in the U.S. Army during

World War II.
After serving in the war, Mr. Stallcop
became a grain trade executive for
several associations, including GEAPS,
where he had been a member. He later
was named executive secretary of the
Pacific Northwest Grain Dealers Association.
In 1956, he moved to Minnesota to
become executive vice-president of the
Northwest Country Elevator Associa-

other officers named to board

- The Grocery Manufacturers of
America re-elected James M. Kilts,
chairman and chief executive officer
of The Gillette Co., as chairman of the
G.M.A. board of directors.
Mr. Kilts has been a member of the
G.M.A. board since 1997, most recently
as vice-chairman.
Also re-elected to the board were Joe
M. Weller, chairman and c.e.o., Nestle
USA, as vice-chairman; and Bruce C.
Rohde, chairman and c.e.o., ConAgra
Foods, Inc., as treasurer. Robert J. Lawless, chairman, president and c.e.o.,
Mrs. Fields Famous Brands,
Salt Lake City, has named two to
new executive positions within
the company. John Lauck was
named executive vice-president of
marketing. Most recently, he was
president and chief marketing officer of Arby's Franchise Association.
Earlier, he worked at General Mills,
Inc.; Groceryworks.com; Footstar/
Footaction; Blockbuster Entertainment Group and Pizza Hut/PepsiCo.
He received an M.B.A. from Brigham
Young University. Mrs. Fields also
promoted Dara Dejbakhsh to executive vice-president of operations and
development. Mr. Dejbakhsh had
been vice-president of operations
and development for TCBY, a unit
of Mrs. Fields, since January. Prior to
joining Mrs. Fields he was area vicepresident for Allied Domecq Quick
Service Restaurants. Earlier, he was
with Kits Camera's, Rally's Hamburgers and PepsiCo. Both Mr. Lauck
and Mr. Dejbakhsh will join the fivemember executive committee that
leads Mrs. Fields Famous Brands,
which includes Mrs. Fields Cook-
