Congress, prior to adjournment

Congress passed the Carter
administration's legislation to
deregulate the railroad industry
and approved the bill to waive
weighing requirements on
certain grain receipts and shipments at port elevators.

A U.S. Bankruptcy Court
judge will hold a hearing
Nov. 13 on the proposed sale
of Fink Baking Co. L.L.C. of
Long Island City to a New
York area attorney who recently assumed management
of the company. Fink is in the
midst of Chapter XI bankruptcy proceedings.

The Environmental Protection
Agency announced Oct. 12 that

Consideration is being given in
Canada to the erection of the
largest grain elevators in the
world to provide additional
space for the huge accumulations of wheat in the Dominion
under present emergency trade
conditions. The latest projects
contemplate the erection of
two huge elevators at Lakehead of 50 million bus each.

Britain by Nazi air raiders, but
on the whole it is surprisingly
light, due no doubt to the energetic defense and also to the
disregard of the Nazi bombers

Problems of the baking industry arising from the war in
Europe and the rapidly growing interest in the addition of
vitamins to flour and bakery
products are receiving major
attention at the 1940 annual
convention of the American
Bakers Association at the Hotel Sherman in Chicago.
