Bel-Ray Company Inc., the leading US-based lubrication manufacturing company, announces the publication and launch of its all-new line of multidivisional marketing collateral. The all-new Powersports Brochure features a bottle-shaped design with an embossed cover, features tabs that organize products by application and images of riders that tell the Bel-Ray story. The company’s Mining, Industrial and Food-Grade Product Guide brochures have been refreshed with a new look and updated with the latest, innovative product information. GEA Refrigeration Technologies, of Bochum, Germany, signed a agreement for acquisition of Bock Kältemaschinen GmbH, of Frickenhausen, Germany. In addition to its administration and production location in Germany, Bock includes an international distribution network, as well as factories in Stríbro (Czech Republic), Vadodara (India), and Hangzhou (China). Sealed Air Corporation’s Cryovac brand was featured on the Jan. 14 installment of the History Channel’s “Modern Marvels.” The show focuses on how technologies are used in and affect our society. The broadcast included demonstrations of Sealed Air’s food and protective packaging technologies, including Cryovac packaging for fresh meat, Bubble Wrap brand cushioning and Instapak foam-in-place. Bill Manteria, vice president for state government relations at the Food Marketing Institute (FMI), announced his retirement effective March 15, 2011. Manteria has served as vice president for state government relations at FMI since 1998. He was responsible for directing FMI’s State Government Relations Department and its relationship with the State Association Council, monitoring and developing industry responses to key state legislative and regulatory issues affecting the retail food industry. Prior to joining FMI, Manteria served as vice president of state association affairs at the National Retail Federation from 1995 to 1998. GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft has expanded the share of food process technology in its portfolio. Acquiring the company Convenience Food Systems (CFS) from funds managed by AEA Investors LP, GEA has added to its group one of the most multi-faceted suppliers of secondary food processing and packaging machinery for meat, fish and cheese. The company, headquartered in Bakel, Netherlands, expects a turnover of about US$540 million this fi nancial year. The transaction is subject to approval by the antitrust authorities and is expected to be consummated during the fi rst half of 2011. The American Meat Institute announced that US Dept. of Agriculture veteran Brandon Beshears has been named senior director of legislative affairs. Previously, Beshears served two years as a member of the minority professional staff for the United States Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry. The Food Marketing Institute (FMI) has announced the appointment of Thomas Osborne as senior technical director of the Safe Quality Food Institute (SQFI), a division of FMI. Osborne will be responsible for directing the technical aspects of SQF, including the food safety standards, guidelines, training materials and audit and certification protocols. Osborne joins SQF with 18 years of industry food safety experience, most recently as director of quality assurance, food safety, regulatory affairs and laboratories at Wayne Farms LLC. MP Equipment Co., a division of the Middleby Corporation Food Processing Group, announces the addition of Blake Wikle as technical sales application manager. He was prev iously employed by Fieldale Farms and has 12 years of processing knowledge and experience. Wikle will be responsible for the water portioning business of MP Equipment. Bettcher Industries Inc. announced the appointment of Samuel Collup as regional manager. Collup will be responsible for sales and service activities for Bettcher’s WhizardTrimmer and AirShirz scissors product lines. He will support meat processing customers in t he Rocky Mountain and Pacific regions of t he US. The company appointed Amber McA fee to t he sales team focused on new business.

L a nd O’Frost announced David Van Eekeren will become CEO and president effect ive i m med iately. Donna Van Eekeren will continue to serve Land O’Frost in the role of executive chairman Van Eekeren and shift her focus from day-to-day operations to long-term strategic planning for the company. As CEO, David is the family’s third generation to lead the 52-year-old business. He served as the company’s president since 2008 and started working for Land O’Frost fulltime in 1991 as a supervisor in the Searcy, Ark., manufacturing plant. Since then, he went on to work in practically every part of the company before assuming the role of executive vice president in 2005. ■
