Plant Processing Engineer

(Surplus To Ongoing Needs Of)

Michigan Turkey Producers, located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a leading manufacturer of quality raw and cooked/valueadded turkey products. A growing company in the industry, Michigan Turkey Producers seeks an experienced Plant Processing
Engineer.
The plant Engineer function will manage process improvement projects, as well as study advance technology and
manufacturing procedures for the development of proposals for automation process flow improvements, mechanization,
throughput and improved product quality.
The plant Engineer function is:

Hands on non-production operations role meeting USDA, HACCP, GMP, safety and company standards.

Define and develops recommendations on production methods, standards labor utilization and cost analysis
systems to support efficient staff and facility utilization.
*
Apply technical/engineering analysis and judgment to identify and implement improvements to plant
operations.
*
Collaborate with MTP management to develop and enhance specific processing and production projects.
*
Define and lead construction, capital improvement, and replacement and automation projects.
*
Develop recommendations to upgrade plant and production systems, equipment and processes.
*
Ensure Engineering fundamentals are understood and applied to process and equipment projects.
*
Utilize industry proven project management methods to ensure projects meet ROI and timing requirements.
*
Participate in safety initiatives and drive safe practices in all project activities.

The following are required qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering field (preferably technical)
3-7 years of related work experience (including exposure to production costs and downtime tracking)
Demonstrated skill in using AutoCAD design software
Demonstrated application of various industrial engineering techniques
Working knowledge of food manufacturing or packaging is desired
Ability to oversee existing and new construction projects within current and new facilities
Excellent communication skills with ability to interact positively within all levels in the organization
