'FUELED BY BACON'

Smithfield kicked off its 2015 sponsorship of the Richard Petty Motorsports'
No. 43 race team with driver Aric Almirola by launching the Smithfield
Pig Out Chase, a season-long amateur eating competition where race fans
can show off their bacon-eating skills. Spectators and bacon-lovers at the
Daytona International Speedway got the chance to see Major League Eating's
Matt Stonie set the world record for how much bacon he could eat in five
minutes - 182 slices!
Stonie has participated in dozens of eating competitions, and he is the
reigning record-holder for eating the most gyros, birthday cake, frozen
yogurt, pumpkin pie and, now, bacon.
"I'm a huge bacon fan, so I jumped at the chance to team up with
Smithfield to set the bacon-eating world record," Stonie said. "...I aimed to
eat 150 slices, but when I passed that and got to 182 slices, I knew it must be
because I'm fueled by bacon!"

Little Caesars is fueling the nation's
bacon obsession with its latest pizza
creation - the Bacon Wrapped Crust
DEEP!DEEP! Dish Pizza, which
features more than 3 ft. of whole strips
of bacon wrapped around the deep
dish pizza crust. The bacon creation
will be available until late April.

High winds and icy road conditions
were to blame when the famous
Oscar Mayer Wienermobile crashed
into a pole in East Pennsboro
Township, Penn., Feb. 15. No one was
injured in the crash, but the vehicle's
"bun" did sustain some damage.
When the online news site,
PennLive.com, shared the news and
photos of the crash, readers couldn't
help but respond with some humor.
"Things took a turn for the wurst."
"What do you get when you crash
the Wienermobile into a snowbank?
A chili dog."
"I relish the occasional story like
this. Glad no one was injured."

DOG DAYS
Visitors to the La Quercia's
headquarters office in Norwalk, Iowa,
always get a tail-wagging, warm
welcome. In the reception area of
the office, owners Herb and Kathy
Eckhouse are proud to have its
panting "security team" greeting all
who enter. Coco Chanel (pictured on
left) and Molly, routinely meet visitors
near the front door, fully aware there
is a stash of dog treats nearby to keep
them interested. Even the company's
USDA inspector can't resist spoiling
the furry mascots, who are restricted
to the office area at the facility.
