The President's Award This year, RCA President Catherine Proper recognized four members who demonstrate the highest level of commitment and excellence to the association. The RCA awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at its annual conference this year to an individual who has achieved industry-wide recognition for his achievements in Culinology. The 2016 recipient, Jeff Cousminer, is a past RCA president, founding member and editor of the recently published reference book "Culinology: The Intersection of Culinary Arts and Food Science." His blended education in food science and culinary arts, along with 30 years of R&D expertise, make him uniquely qualified as a skilled and pioneering Culinology professional. Mark Crowell, CRC, principal culinologist at CuliNex, Seattle, was presented with RCA's 2016 Pioneer Award at the organization's annual conference in Denver. The award is given to individuals who have successfully combined culinary craftsmanship with food science to push the industry forward through innovation and creativity. Scholarship recipients The Culinology Education Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Research Chefs Association, awarded scholarships to four students at the 2016 RCA Annual Conference in Denver.
