they were, we'd have even more organizations
clamoring for us graduates than we do now."
Mr. Iserman loves what he does for a living.
"Even though quality assurance isn't necessarily the most glamorous line of work for
a professional culinologist, it is enormously
satisfying for me; and I'd encourage everyone to give it a try if the opportunity presents
itself," he said. "They might be surprised by

how much they enjoy it. Plus, the hours are
less demanding than being a chef - they are
more in the nine-to-five range."
When Mr. Iserman isn't at work, his hobbies include bargain-hunting, camping, online
gaming, bowling, and even an unusual one
- bugs. "On vacation, my husband Andrew
and I take pictures of interesting and colorful
insects and we maintain a gallery of their photos," he said.
Perhaps Mr. Iserman inherited his photo
collecting gene from his mother - she was
a wedding photographer and his dad was a
florist. "Entertaining and events were a large
part of my life because of my parents' occupations, though they weren't into cooking like
I am," he noted. "My sister did work as a freelance food photographer, however, and my
brother has always been my go-to critic when
testing my recipes, and I love his brutally candid feedback."
Now maybe that's why Mr. Iserman likes to
tell it like it is. Ɣ
