Supplier’s Corner Opportunities Abound A ALMOND s you know, the Snack Food Association (SFA) is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. SFA continues to develop programs for associate members. Many industry suppliers of processing and packaging equipment, food ingredients, and other material can meet and engage snack food manufacturers to keep our industry, and SFA, moving forward. By the time you read this, SFA will have completed a new snack food HACCP/Food Safety Modernization Act workshop as well as the annual Total Quality Management course that SFA, along with The Ohio State University (OSU) and the Center for Innovative Food Technology, co-sponsors at OSU in Columbus every year. The 2012 Executive Leadership Forum will be held Sept. 23-25 at the Sanctuary in Kiawah Island, SC, and the new Snack School, developed by SFA and Saint Joseph’s University, will be held Oct. 14-16 in Philadelphia, PA. The new Snack School, formerly the SFA Management Development Program, was developed in partnership with the Food Marketing Department at Saint Joseph’s University to feature more in-depth education for sales and marketing personnel. I want to congratulate Doug Meyer-Cuno, Carolina Ingredients, and rest of the Management Development Program Committee for all their work in developing this program. Read more about the event on Page 24. SFA will also be co-hosting the Baking-Snack Break lounge at Pack Expo 2012 in Chicago, IL, Oct. 28-31. SFA is the exclusive partner sponsor of the Baking-Snack Break lounge, and this area will allow SFA members to engage snack food manufacturers and marketers and meet other suppliers to the industry. This is our second year partnering with Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute (PMMI) to host this area at Pack Expo. This great lineup of fall SFA events will again provide unique opportunities for snack food manufacturers and suppliers to meet, and we hope you will be able to join us for these important programs. Finally, be sure to review your listing in the SFA Snack Food Industry Marketplace at www.snackfoodindustrymarketplace.com, where SFA associate members and other suppliers can feature their companies, key contacts, products, equipment and other services provided to the snack food industry. This online marketplace will provide additional exposure to potential buyers from snack food manufacturers and marketers from around the world.
