Former Snyder's-Lance executive to
lead Sky Valley Foods
Rodrigo Troni, formerly chief marketing and innovation officer of Snyder's-Lance, Inc., has been tapped
to lead Sky Valley Foods as president and CEO. He
replaces interim CEO Scott Lurie.
Headquartered in Danville, VA, Sky Valley Foods
makes natural and organic salad dressings, specialty
sauces, condiments and organic sparkling drinks
under the Sky Valley, Organicville and Bella's brands.
"I am delighted to join the highly entrepreneurial
team at Sky Valley Foods," Mr. Troni said. "The opportunity for growth in organic brands is phenomenal
and totally aligned with consumers' preferences for
authentic, transparent foods."
At Snyder's-Lance, Mr. Troni played a role in the
Charlotte, NC-based company's transformation into
a better-for-you snacking powerhouse. There, he
oversaw significant product renovation and innovation for brands, including Lance, Snyder's of Hanover
and Cape Cod.

Snack innovation buoys PepsiCo's
third-quarter performance
Snacks continue to be a source of strength for
PepsiCo, Inc., Purchase, NY. During the third quarter
of fiscal 2017, the company's Frito-Lay North America
and Quaker businesses generated positive returns.
Indra Nooyi, chairman and CEO of PepsiCo, said
Frito-Lay North America had another strong quarter
with a balance of volume growth, price realization
and operating margin expansion.
"We feel very good about the business with innovation, pricing, execution and market share performance all on target," she said. "We are particularly
pleased with the continuing strength in organic sales
growth, which is being fueled by effective pricepack management and innovation backed by great
marketing."
Ms. Nooyi cited innovation such as Cheetos Paws,
Jalapeño Cheetos, Simply, Mac n' Cheetos, and spicy
varieties of the company's Ruffles brand chips.
"Beyond our largest trademarks, we saw impressive
double-digit net revenue growth in premium and
better-for-you offerings such as SunChips, Smartfood popcorn and Miss Vickie's and in our variety
multipack that provide a great assortment of our top
brands in convenient single-serve packages," she said.
The innovation was one reason Frito-Lay North
America sales during the quarter rose 3% to $3,792
million and operating profit rose 5% to $1,208 million.
