Today, the company is focused on three business
lines: residential, commercial, and wholesale.
" The largest portion of our business is the
commercial division, " said Jackson. " We specialize in
schools, hospitals, and offices. Window treatments
are now an integral part of construction and adding
motorized window treatments is often included in the
architectural blueprints for the initial construction. "
" The shades might get installed at the end of a
project, but it is what happens before the walls are
installed that makes our product appear and operate
correctly, " he explained.
Jackson is proud of the company's reputation for
quality. " To get the correct look and operation, we
fabricate most of what we sell. Quality control is a
huge element of what we do, " he added. His installers
are all employees of the business, said Jackson, and
one way he can control the quality of his products.
Running a small company in today's competitive
business environment is challenging. But with the
right mindset and experience, building and managing
a company can be rewarding and invigorating.
" Employees are my number one priority. It's a fact
that we are with each other more than we are with
our families, " said Jackson. " Creating a positive
working environment and making sure everyone
enjoys what they do is critical. Without good people,
we would be nothing. "
Jackson credits his Thaddeus Stevens College
education with setting him on the road to becoming
a successful business owner, and he encourages high
school students to take a good look at the trades.
" A four-year college is not the end-all for everyone. I
know a lot of people without degrees that are doing
very well, " said Jackson. " Trades are where things
are happening in our economy and will be for a long
time. "
With a thriving company and a young, active family,
Jackson's future goals might be to stay the course.
But that's not his plan.
" I am always trying to make us better and ensure
that the growth and health of the business comes
first, " said Jackson. " I employ more than 20 people
and I want to ensure that there is work for them in
the future. I have a fire inside that is very hot. I want
to keep the burner down and grow the business at a
safe, sustainable rate. "
" We needed
to take the
1960s style
business into
the modern
age. "
